Just a quick tip to stop Lightroom ( in this case 3.2 ) from automatically opening when inserting a USB drive / Memory Card.
- Open Lightroom, from the main top menu, select Edit > Preferences.
- Under the General Tab, look for Import Options.
- Uncheck "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected". Click OK to save the setting change.

Thank you
Its quite rare to find instructions that only take seconds to follow. When looking for solutions in forums you have to sift through lots of pointless conversations/info, especially by people saying more than they have to. I found this blog straight away via Google, big relief. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you - quick, easy and valuable
Thanks you. Simple and easy. I saw other sites that were suggesting ridiculous solutions.
Did just as you said. It did not work. am using lightroom 5.1 and when I plug in the iPad to sync, LR opens,
Hi Linda,
You might need to go to Default Programs ( If using Windows 7, go to Start > Default Programs or if using Windows 8 and up, search for Default Programs ), and then Change AutoPlay Settings. From the list, under Devices, look for Apple iPad and change the default to "Take no action".
Sirius, you're a genius. I've been toggeling the option in Lightroom and rebooting to no effect. Just checked the AutoPlay settings and found the culprit. Thank you so much.
Thank you. I had the same problem with Win 10. Lightroom import opened every time I restarted or plugged in external drive. I searched for and changed the autoplay settings and voila.
Thank you Sirius. It was really bugging me with external drives. Now fixed thanks to you.
Thanks. Been driving me crazy. Glad someone's paying attention.
